The logo design: Keiron Flamand "This logo includes the Anglo-Canadian symbol for justice - the balance scales, which weigh evidence without favour to either side; the traditional Métis sash; eagle feathers, symbolic of strength and vision; which are attached to a traditional plains Indian shield, symbolic of protection, one of the functions of justice. The circle, symbolic of the drum, which is important to Aboriginal peoples, dominates the logo. Part of the symbolism of the drums is to represent the heartbeat of Mother Earth and closeness to nature. The circle is also symbolic of harmony and balance." -- Aboriginal Justice Inquiry |
